Gérald Caussé

Gérald Jean Caussé (born May 20, 1963 in Bordeaux ) has been the Presiding Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since October 9, 2015 . He is the 15th holder of this office. He has been a General Authority of the Church since 2008 and is the first Frenchman to hold this position.

Caussé was born in Bordeaux and raised a Mormon. His parents joined the Church when he was six months old. Caussé became president of the Sunday School in his branch at the age of 16.

Caussé served in the French Air Force for one year . He holds a master's degree in business administration from the École supérieure des sciences économiques et commerciales .

Before his appointment as General Authority, he was operations manager and member of the board of directors of Groupe Pomona , the largest food company in France.

Caussé was President of the Parishes of Paris of the LDS Church from 2001 to 2007 . In April 2007 he became an Area Seventy for the Western Europe Area. On April 5, 2008, he was inducted into the First Quorum of the Seventy . There he served most of the time in the Presidency of the Europe Area.

On March 31, 2012, he was called to be the first counselor to Gary E. Stevenson , who was the presiding bishop at the time. When Stevenson was called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in October 2015 , Caussé succeeded it as Presiding Bishop. Under the First Presidency , the Presiding Bishopric is responsible for day-to-day affairs in the Church.

Caussé married his wife Valérie on August 5, 1986 in the Bern Temple . You have five children.
