Gérard Chouchan
Gérard Chouchan (* 1934 ) is a French director .
Life
Chouchan studied at IDHEC in Paris . After a few films as an assistant director, he made his debut as a director in 1964 with the documentary series Les femmes aussi . Other documentaries followed ( Un couple comme les autres , 1966 and Odette en Prison , 1968).
Chouchan tries to use realistic language. Via the detour of documentary fiction , he came to the implementation of feature films. In 1972 he created Stolen Sunday with Pierre Santini . One of his best-known works is the seemingly authentic drama Fou comme François (1977) with Michel Creton and Claude Jade , in which the marriage breaks up due to the man's unemployment. With Marina Vlady he made the film Fort comme la mort ("Strong as Death") in 1981 . In this Maupassant film adaptation of the self-destruction of a painter (Michel Vitold), Vlady plays Anne de Guilleroy .
Chouchan's last feature film for the time being was La guerre du cochon with Jean Yanne in 1986 . Since then he has worked as a director for educational films.
