The Göteborg Marvels are a Swedish American football team from Gothenburg .
history
The Göteborg Marvels were created in 2005 through the merger of the Göteborg Mustangs and the Göteborg Giants. In their first season in 2005, the Marvels had two men's teams in the game, the A-team reached third place in the super series and failed in the semi-finals of the play-offs to the Carlstad Crusaders . The B-Team competed in Division II Västra and reached third place there. The U-19 youth team reached the final of the Swedish championship, but lost against the Gefle Red Devils with 0:48.
The following year began with internal quarrels, which ended in the fact that the Marvels only competed in the senior division with their Division II team and withdrew the A-team from the super series. The team reached the championship without defeat and the promotion qualification game against the Ystad Rockets could be won almost 18:14. In the junior area, a U-19 and a U-16 team started.
In 2007, the Marvels started in Division I and quickly established themselves, at the end of the day there was a second place in the table, which meant the play-offs. There the team was able to prevail against Djurgårdens IF with 12: 7 and in the final defeated the STU Northside Bulls 14: 0, which they were still defeated in the regular season with 6:20. In the junior division, a U-19 and a U-16 team started again, and a U-13 team was also established.
In 2008 the Marvels started again in the super series, but had to be satisfied with the penultimate place in the table with only three wins from twelve games. That meant a relegation game against the runner-up in Division I, the Örebro Black Knights , to stay in the super series. On their own place they could prevail 13: 6 and thus secure the class for 2009. In the youth field, U-19, U-15 and U-13 played games.
Before the 2009 season, the Marvels voluntarily withdrew from the super series and started in Division I.
