Göttingen catalog

The Göttingen catalog (more precisely: Göttingen catalog of didactic models ) was developed by Karl-Heinz Flechsig from 1975 and describes the basic forms of didactic action ( teaching-learning methods ).

To do this, he uses twelve descriptors :

  • Didactic principles
  • Learning environment (model-specific learning locations and elements)
  • Learning tasks (typical model tasks to be worked on by learners)
  • Competencies (skills and abilities that the model is suitable to impart)
  • Phases (in which the teaching-learning process is typically divided)
  • Roles of the learners (who take on these according to the model)
  • Roles of learning assistants (who take on these according to the model)
  • Institutional contexts (educational institutions for which the model is particularly suitable)
  • Knowledge areas (for which the model is particularly suitable)
  • Target groups (for which model-specific designs are particularly suitable)
  • Embedding in courses (programs)
  • Variants (of the basic model)

From this he derives basic models, the selection of which is, however, controversial with 2 12 possibilities. These teaching-learning forms are classified according to the size of the learning group ( social type ):

  • Individually, as a small group or in a class:
  • Time-limited teaching events, which are more used for professional development, are omitted:
    • Work class
    • Case method
    • Learning conference
    • Workshop seminar
