Göttingen news

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Göttinger Nachrichten was the local party organ of the NSDAP in Göttingen and southern Lower Saxony .

The newspaper first appeared in May 1933 as a supplement to the regional Lower Saxony daily newspaper . After the forced handover of the printing works and the editorial rooms of the social democratic Volksblatt , the Göttinger Nachrichten was able to appear independently in October 1933, but remained with the Niedersächsischer Beobachter publishing house . The circulation up to the beginning of the war was around 15,000 copies sold. After the beginning of the war, the Göttinger Nachrichten was merged with other local party newspapers from southern Lower Saxony to form the Südhannoversche Zeitung .

In the second half of the 19th century (and probably later) the treatises of the Royal Society of Sciences in Göttingen were often informally abbreviated as Göttinger Nachrichten by scientists .
