Götz Hamann (born December 11, 1969 in Lüdenscheid ) is a German business journalist .

Life

Hamann completed his studies at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster .

His journalistic career began with an internship at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung . Later he was one of the founding editors of the Financial Times Deutschland .

Hamann has been the business editor of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit since September 2000 . There he is in charge of the areas of "media, internet and lobbying". Since 2008 he has been deputy head of the economic department.

Hamann is one of the initiators of the Charter of Fundamental Digital Rights of the European Union , which was published at the end of November 2016.
