history

The place name for the village of Götzing is mentioned in 1459 with Getzing and is still used by the locals. The place name is made up of the personal name Gezo, which is documented in the 11th century, and the suffix " -ing ". This suffix expresses belonging to a landlord, i.e. a certain Gezo.

Götzing gained notable importance through the connection to the railway network by the Royal Bavarian State Railways in 1894. A station restoration was built as an inn and hostel for travelers, which is still in operation today. The post was now taken by train to Götzing and from there to the post office in Fridolfing. In addition to the post and passenger traffic, the railway was mainly used to transport building materials and cattle .

The area around Götzing is rich in clay and peat , which is why a large brick factory was built in 1918 , which for a long time was one of the largest employers in the municipality of Fridolfing, but was closed in the 1990s. In the 19th and 20th centuries, peat was also mined around Götzing, but cheaper oil and wood heating systems displaced the need for peat and meant that hardly any labor and time-consuming peat was cut.

In April 1945 there was an air raid on a hospital train near the train station.
