particularities

possibly Urartian reservoir

The Gövelek Gölü (also Ermanis Gölü, İrmanis Gölü, German Gövelek-See) , 26 km east of Van , is a lake in the Turkish province of Van . Possibly it is a Urartian reservoir.

A stele of the Urartian king Rusa Erimenaḫi was found near the lake . She mentions the construction of a reservoir that irrigated the "land in front of Mount Qilbani" (perhaps the Zimzim Dağı ). This lake is usually equated with Keşiş Gölü , which the Urartians called Rusa Lake. Since the inscription gives no name, this equation is not certain. However, Çilingiroğlu points out that it could also be Lake Gövelek. The reservoirs of Köşebaşı , Kurubaşı and Sihke could also be considered.
