Positions
Yüksel advocates interreligious dialogue. As chairman of the integration council, in 2010 she was involved in the discussion about the Islamic school in Mönchengladbach's Eicken district, planned by a Salafist association that has now been dissolved. Together with the district head of the city, the NRW integration minister Schneider, and the member of the state parliament Hans-Willi Körfges, she held talks with the citizens' initiative. Yüksel said about the citizens' initiative that they would "add fuel to the fire". Elsewhere, she emphasized that the Integration Council, together with the citizens' initiative, wanted to find ways and means to counteract the societal problem of extremism. As with Germans, the fears are also present among people with a migration background.
