Günter Wallraff Prize for journalism criticism
The Günter Wallraff Prize for Criticism of Journalism has been awarded by the Initiative Nachrichtenaufklerung e. V. (INA) named after the journalist Günter Wallraff and endowed with 10,000 euros, which is awarded as part of the annual Cologne Forum for Journalism Criticism on Deutschlandfunk , to people or institutions who “critically deal with journalism in an original and balanced way " .
The previous winners are:
- 2015: Sebastian Pertsch and Udo Stiehl , whose cloud of phrases "draws attention to inadequacies, errors and manipulations in the language of communications in an innovative way".
- 2016: Turkish journalist group Haber Nöbeti , which " wants to correct the deficits in media reporting, especially from the crisis region of Eastern Turkey, in times of severe restrictions on press freedom in Turkey ".
- 2017: In equal parts Ahmet Şık for his “courageous and investigative journalism” and the Turkish-German web project taz.gazete of the taz.die daily newspaper and the Panter Foundation . Stefan Schulz was honored with an undoped prize for his journalism-critical book “Redaktionsschluss”.
