Günter Beier (born March 2, 1942 in Altenburg ) is a former German gymnast . His hometown club was the ASK Vorwärts Potsdam .
With the team of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) he won a bronze medal in the team all- around at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City . At GDR championships from 1964 to 1967 he won four national individual titles in a row in the horse jump .
After the end of his active career, he completed a degree in psychology . In 1980 he received his doctorate from the Potsdam University of Education, a forerunner of today's University of Potsdam . He is currently working as a sports psychologist and psychotherapist at the Olympiastützpunkt Potsdam .
