Günter Biermann (born January 25, 1931 in Herford , † November 2, 1997 in Bonn ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school, Biermann completed a commercial apprenticeship from 1945 and then worked as a commercial clerk. He had worked for a trade union since 1952, where he became managing director in 1955.

Political party

Biermann joined the Socialist Youth of Germany / Die Falken in 1946 . He joined the SPD in 1950 and had been a member of the board of the SPD district of Ostwestfalen-Lippe since 1963.

Biermann was a councilor for the city ​​of Herford from 1956 to 1979 , where he was elected chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in 1963. From October 17, 1961 to March 29, 1983 he was a member of the German Bundestag . He was elected in the fourth electoral term (1961-1965) on the state list of the SPD North Rhine-Westphalia . From the fifth to ninth electoral term (1965-1983) he represented the constituency of Herford in parliament.
