Günter Dietrich (politician)

Günter Dietrich (born July 15, 1941 in Rankweil ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and ÖBB official. Dietrich was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from 1974 to 1983 and a member of the Austrian National Council from 1983 to 1994 .

Dietrich attended elementary school in Rankweil and secondary school in Feldkirch before he graduated from the commercial vocational school in Feldkirch. He joined the ÖBB as a machinist in 1955 and became a train driver in 1959. From 1971 he was employed as a technical administrator.

Dietrich became politically active in 1956 as a member of the Socialist Youth (SJ) and was regional chairman of the SJ from 1960 to 1961. He joined the SPÖ in 1958 and was a functionary of the young generation from 1967 to 1973 . In 1972 he took over the office of SPÖ local party chairman in Rankweil, he was also state party secretary and deputy state party secretary of the SPÖ Vorarlberg. After he was elected community representative in Rankweil in 1970, he represented the SPÖ between 1974 and 1983 in the Vorarlberg state parliament. He was then a member of the National Council between May 19, 1983 and November 6, 1994.
