Günter Drexelius

Günter Drexelius (born February 25, 1939 in Ennest ; † April 24, 2015 in Usingen ) was a German administrative lawyer.

Life

Günter Drexelius was the son of a factory worker. He studied law and graduated with a doctorate in law. jur. from. He entered the civil service and worked first in Bonn and then as Ministerialrat in Frankfurt am Main. There he was President of the Federal Office for Food and Forestry (BEF). After the merger of the BEF with the Federal Agency for Agricultural Market Regulation (BALM), he became the first President of the newly created Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food in 1995 and remained so until he retired in February 2004. Since 1977 he lived with his wife and his three children in Usingen. There he was active in local politics for the CDU and was head of the city council from 1985 to 1997. His son Matthias Drexelius was mayor of Usingen from 1998 to 2010 and then first deputy in the planning association Frankfurt / Rhein-Main .
