Matthias Drexelius

Matthias Drexelius (born February 18, 1966 ) is a German administrative officer, politician ( CDU ) and director of the Hessian district council .

Matthias Drexelius is the son of the long-time mayor of Usingen and President of the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food , Dr. Günter Drexelius . After graduating from the Christian Wirth School in Usingen in 1985, Drexelius first graduated from the Rotenburg University of Applied Sciences in Fulda with a degree in finance .

After a brief activity as a clerk at the Bad Homburg tax office , Drexelius studied law at the University of Giessen . After graduating, he worked for a tax consultant in Oberursel from 1991 to 1995 . In 1997 he was admitted to the bar and worked in a Frankfurt law firm until 1998.

Drexelius was directly elected mayor of Usingen from 1998 .

In the 2001 local elections , Usingen became known throughout Hesse because of a mishap. The list of the CDU (the strongest political force in Usingen to date) was not admitted to local elections due to a formal error (the electoral list was submitted late). As a result, the FDP received so many votes that their list was insufficient to fill all the places it won by the end of the election period. Mayor Matthias Drexelius (CDU) therefore had to work for five years without a single party colleague in parliament. In the following local elections , the CDU won an absolute majority of the seats.

In 2010 he switched to the Frankfurt / Rhein-Main Planning Association as a full-time first councilor . After the lost local elections in March 2011 , Drexelius was voted out of office in December.

The office of the full-time First Alderman was grouped in salary group B 6 of salary order B.

Drexelius and Heiko Kasseckert sued against their deselection but were unsuccessful with the lawsuit. Drexelius has been working as a lawyer again since he was voted out of office.

Matthias Drexelius belongs to the district council of the Hochtaunuskreis and the district executive committee of the CDU. He has been chairman of the Usingen CDU since October 15, 2015.

Since October 1, 2015, he has succeeded Christian Engelhardt (CDU) as director of the Hessian district assembly.

He is a lecturer at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences and teaches in the "Public Administration" course.
