Günter Gleis (born December 5, 1936 ) was a soccer player in the area of the GDR soccer association . In its highest division, the GDR Oberliga , he played between 1957 and 1961 for SC Turbine Erfurt .

After Gleis had stood exclusively in the goal of the reserve team of SC Turbine Erfurt until 1956, coach Hans Rüger gave him the opportunity to guard the goal of the 1st Turbine team in the last five league games in the GDR league. With six goals conceded, the 20-year-old's record was not very satisfactory. Nevertheless, track received another probation opportunity at the beginning of the 1958 season and was back in goal in the first four league league games. In these games he again had to accept six goals with the result that he was then replaced by the previous goalkeeper Rolf Jahn . In the 1958 season, track was a total of nine times in league games in the gate. In 1959 he had no chance against Jahn and only played three times in the league.

After this season Turbine Erfurt was relegated to the GDR league and received a new coach in Wolfgang Seifert. This made track number one in goal with the result that he played all 26 games of Erfurt and contributed to the fact that the SC with the fewest goals conceded (25) managed to immediately return to the league. After Rolf Jahn had ended his goalkeeping career in 1960, Gleis had competition from the 20-year-old junior national goalkeeper Horst Weigang from 1961 . Gleis was able to assert itself again as a regular goalkeeper in the 1961/62 season, which was played because of the switch to the summer-spring rhythm with 39 point games, and played 12 games in the first 18 top division points. On September 24, 1961, track was in the match between SC Aufbau Magdeburg and SC Turbine Erfurt (3-2) for the last time in a league game in goal. Erfurt had slipped to the penultimate place in the table and had received the most goals in the league with 37 goals. From now on, Weigang was in the gate of the SC Turbine. At the beginning of 1962, the sports club announced that Günter Gleis, who had previously played 55 point games - including 29 top division games - for Erfurt, had been excluded from the club for disciplinary reasons.

At the beginning of the 1962/63 season, track joined the fourth-class district division Empor Ilmenau . He also belonged to the squad of the Suhl district selection, which reached the semi-finals for the district traveling cup of the football association in 1963. Later Gleis was pardoned by SC Turbine Erfurt, but was only used in the 2nd team.
