Günter Haufe (* 1949 ) is a German chemist ( organic chemistry ) who was a professor at the University of Münster . He was retired at the end of September 2017.

Haufe studied at the University of Leipzig , where he received his doctorate in 1975 and habilitated in 1985. In 1986 he was at the University of Lyon I (Claude Bernard), from 1988 lecturer in Leipzig and from 1991 professor for organic chemistry in Münster.

He was visiting professor at the University of Lyon I, the University of Florida in Gainesville (2002), the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and the University of Rouen.

Haufe dealt with organofluorine chemistry (selective halogenation methods, selective synthesis of fluorinated natural product analogues, tracers for positron emission tomography ), total synthesis of natural products, synthesis and reactions of medium-sized ring systems, non-aromatic ring systems ( aliphatic hydrocarbons , alicyclic compounds ) and bio-organic chemistry (transformations with microorganisms and enzymatic synthesis methods ).
