Günter Heine (table tennis player)

Günter Heine (born April 15, 1940 ) is a former Austrian table tennis player . He was three times Austrian champion.

Career

Günter Heine played for the BBSV Wien club until 1966 and then moved to NÖ Energie Wien. He was Austrian champion in singles in 1966, 1968 and 1977 , in 1965, 1966, 1969, 1971 and 1973 in doubles and in 1968 in mixed. He took part in world championships three times , namely in 1965 , 1969 and 1971 , but never came close to medal ranks. In 1966 he represented Austria at the European Championships . At the European Senior Championship in 1995, he was second in the individual in the age group over 50.

Heine's children, daughter Veronika (* 1986) and son Florian , also play table tennis in the top Austrian leagues.
