Günter Kiermaier

Günter Kiermaier (born November 10, 1942 in Amstetten ) is an Austrian innkeeper and politician ( SPÖ ). Kiermaier was a member of the Austrian National Council between 1990 and 2002 .

education and profession

Kiermaier attended elementary and secondary school from 1949 to 1957 and learned the trade of retail salesman from 1957 to 1960. Kiermaier then worked in his apprenticeship between 1960 and 1961, completed military service and completed an apprenticeship as a waiter from 1962 to 1965 . He then worked as a waiter in his parents' business until 1972. Kiermaier has been the owner of the company since 1972 and was awarded the professional title of commercial councilor in 1994 . In 1998, Kiermaier wanted to convert his inn into a franchise operation for the Wienerwald company , but received a rejection from the company. As a result, he converted the guest rooms in his inn into a private retirement home with 30 apartments for the elderly.

Kiermaier was a city councilor in Amstetten in 1990 and entered the National Council on November 5, 1990 as a representative of the SPÖ. In addition, Kiermaier, district chairman of the SPÖ Amstetten, was president of the Social Democratic Economic Association of Lower Austria and vice-president of the Lower Austria Chamber of Commerce . In addition, he was head of the Working Group on Christianity and Socialism (ACUS) Lower Austria as regional chairman. After leaving parliament on December 19, 2003, Kiermaier was replaced on May 28, 2003 in his role as district party chairman.
