Günter Kovacs

Günter Kovacs (born July 17, 1968 ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and employee. From 2009 to February 2019 he was Vice Mayor of the Free City of Eisenstadt and from 2010 to February 2019 a member of the Burgenland State Parliament . Since February 28, 2019, he has been a member of the Federal Council delegated by the Burgenland State Parliament .

Life

Günter Kovacs attended secondary school after elementary school and then the Haydn Conservatory. He also graduated from the Eisenstadt vocational school and a company technical school in Vienna. Kovacs works as an employee of the Burgenland regional health insurance fund.

Günter Kovacs began his political career in 2002 as a councilor in the free city of Eisenstadt and was a city councilor between 2007 and 2009. From 2009 to 2019, Kovacs served as Vice Mayor of the city of Eisenstadt. In addition, Kovacs is a board member of the Eisenstadt-Eisbachtal sewage association, delegate to the plenary assembly of the Northern Burgenland water supply association, head of the Eisenstadt / Großhöflein sanitary district , member of the advisory board of Erste Bank of Österreichische Sparkassen-AG, board member of the Burgenland exhibition association and member of the advisory board of KEG Eisenstadt. In addition, Kovacs is co-founder and spokesman for the “Mobil-Funk-Initiative-Burgenland” in Eisenstadt. Kovacs ran in the state elections in Burgenland 2010 in 5th place in the SPÖ district proposal for the Eisenstadt state electoral district and was elected as a member of the Burgenland state parliament on June 24, 2010.

At the beginning of February 2019, Lisa Vogl succeeded him as Eisenstadt's Vice Mayor. On February 28, 2019, Günter Kovacs moved from the state parliament to the federal council, in return Inge Posch-Gruska returned from the federal council to the state parliament.
