Inge Posch-Gruska
Inge Posch-Gruska (born May 16, 1962 in Baden , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). In the second half of 2018 she was President of the Federal Council , of which she was a member from 2010 to February 2019. She has been the mayor of Hirm ( Burgenland ) since 2007 . From 2005 to 2010 she was a member of the Burgenland State Parliament , to which she was a member again from February 28, 2019 to February 17, 2020.
education and profession
Posch-Gruska attended elementary and secondary school in Leobersdorf and then the three-year technical college for business professions in Baden near Vienna. After her training Posch-Gruska worked for the Burgenland Chamber of Labor. In the event of her election to the state parliament, Posch-Gruska announced that she would take leave of absence from her job.
politics
Posch-Gruska got involved with the Kinderfreunde at the age of 14 and was elected chairwoman of the Kinderfreunde Burgenland in April 2003. Since May 2004 she has also been Deputy Federal Chairwoman of the Austrian Children's Friends.
Posch-Gruska has been the local SPÖ party chairman of the municipality of Hirm since December 2000 and was elected vice mayor that year. Before that, she had been a member of the local council since 1997 . In 2007 Posch-Gruska became mayor of Hirm after her party colleague withdrew from office for health reasons. In October 2004, she was also elected deputy district women chairperson in the Mattersburg district and in 2007 took over the office of district women chairperson.
Posch-Gruska was a member of the state parliament from October 25, 2005 and area spokeswoman for children, consumer protection, people with special needs and the older generation. In the state elections in Burgenland in 2010, she was defeated in the SPÖ-internal preferential vote battle against the mayor of Mattersburg, Ingrid Salamon , who achieved preferential votes in 2016 while Posch-Gruska only achieved 1848. Posch-Gruska had to leave the state parliament on June 24, 2010, but was elected to the Federal Council on the same day. From July 1 to December 31, 2018, she was its President.
In November 2018 it became known that Günter Kovacs would move from the state parliament to the federal council, in return Posch-Gruska returned from the federal council to the state parliament on February 28, 2019. After the state elections in 2020 , she left the state parliament.
Private
Posch-Gruska is married and has one son (* 1986).
