Reinhard Todt (born January 22, 1949 in St. Pantaleon , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 2001 to 2018 he was a member of the Federal Council sent by the Vienna State Parliament . In the 2nd half of 2013 and in the 1st half of 2018 he was President of the Federal Council .

education and profession

Todt was born in St. Pantaleon in Upper Austria and attended elementary school in his home town between 1955 and 1959. In 1959 he switched to the secondary school in Ostermiething and then learned to be a machine fitter between 1963 and 1967. In 1967 he passed the skilled worker examination. He also completed the political science and history course at the University of Vienna between 1986 and 1988 and passed the vocational matriculation examination.

Between 1967 and 1971, Todt worked as a skilled worker at the Palfinger company in Salzburg , where he did military service in 1969. In 1971 he became department head in switchgear construction at the Ausserhofer company in Salzburg and in 1972 moved to the SPÖ Salzburg as youth secretary. Between 1975 and 1982 he worked as the association secretary of the Socialist Youth of Austria , in 1982 he became a seminar leader at the Dr. Karl Renner Institute . After that, Todt was employed as District Secretary of the SPÖ Vienna- Simmering between 1988 and 1998 . Between 1998 and 2008 he was senior secretary of the SPÖ Vienna and project manager. Todt worked from 2008 to the end of 2014 as General Secretary of the Pensioners' Association of Austria .

Political career

In addition to his professional commitment, Todt was active as district chairman of the Roten Falken Salzburg-Stadt between 1968 and 1970 and between 1970 and 1972 he was the regional chairman of the Roten Falken Salzburg. In addition, from 1970 to 1973 he was section chairman and deputy of the SPÖ Salzburg city. After moving to Vienna, he worked as section chairman of the SPÖ Vienna-Simmering between 1989 and 2009, was district councilor in Simmering from 1989 to 2001 and chairman of the finance committee from 1996 to 2001. He has also been deputy district chairman of the SPÖ Vienna-Simmering since 2005 and was chairman of the Simmering cultural association from 1990 to 2002. Was dead on 27 April 2001 to 31 December 2018 Member of the Federal Council and worked between 1 July 2011 and 31 December 2011, as its vice-president and in the second half of 2013 and the first half of 2018 as its president .
