Michael Lampel

Michael Lampel (born January 14, 1964 in Wiener Neustadt , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). Lampel was a delegated member of the Austrian Federal Council from Burgenland from 2010 to 2015 and during this time he was President of the Federal Council from January to June 2014 .

Life

Lampel grew up in Neufeld on the Leitha in Burgenland . Here he attended elementary and secondary school from 1970 to 1978 before going to Eisenstadt , where he was a student at the local federal commercial school until 1982 .

After his military service , which he performed from 1982 to 1983, Lampel found work as a dispatcher at the Raab-Oedenburg-Ebenfurter Eisenbahn . In 1990 he became a senior official, initially for the freight transport agendas , and from 1996 also for the passenger transport sector .

His political career began in 2002 when he joined the local council of Neufeld an der Leitha for the SPÖ . After two years he became a city councilor in 2004, before he was elected mayor of Neufeld an der Leitha in 2006. Since 2008, Lampel has also held the position of deputy district party chairman of the SPÖ in the Eisenstadt-Umgebung district .

Since June 2010 Michael Lampel was a delegated member of the Austrian Federal Council in Vienna by the Burgenland Parliament . On January 1, 2014, Lampel became President of the Federal Council for the first half of 2014 in accordance with the principle of rotation . After the state elections in Burgenland in 2015 , Lampel left the Federal Council.

Michael Lampel is chairman of the ASV Neufeld soccer club .
