Günter Kresze

Günter Kresze (* 1921 ; † 1987 ) was a German professor of theoretical and organic chemistry .

Life

In 1940, after graduating from high school, Kresze began studying chemistry at the TU Berlin . From 1941 to 1945 he served in the Wehrmacht and was only able to continue his studies in 1946.

In 1951 he did his doctorate at the TU Berlin under Friedrich Nerdel , a student of Walter Hückel , and completed his habilitation there in 1955 with a thesis on the topic of "Knowledge of the mechanism of aldol-like condensation".

In 1957 he became a "diet lecturer" (private lecturer) at the Technical University of Berlin, during which time he supervised Bernhard Schrader's dissertation, among other things .

In 1961 Kresze was appointed to an extraordinary professorship at the Technical University of Munich , in 1964 he was given a full professorship and the chair II for organic chemistry.

His research areas included organosulfur compounds , hetero-Diels-Alder reactions , and the optical activity of chiral allenes .
