Günter Karl-Heinz Menzer (born January 7, 1925 in Freiberg ; † June 10, 1996 there ) was a German entertainer and actor.

Life

Menzer grew up in his hometown Freiberg in Saxony, did his Reich Labor Service in 1942 and from 1943 to 1945 his military service in the intelligence service of the German Air Force . After his return from American captivity, he worked first in the district intelligence office, from 1949 in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and later as district secretary of the Kulturbund of the GDR in Freiberg. During his military service he already worked on the front stage and began in 1947 with appearances as a conférencier and reporter at the Chemnitz concert and guest performance management. He soon moderated events, had radio and television appearances and appeared on tours with Eberhard Cohrs , the Vier-Brummers , Fred Frohberg , Fred Giggo and Manfred Stephan von der Leipziger Pfeffermühle . However, he turned down an offer to be permanently employed by the radio station in the GDR. In the seventies he began to play more theater, for which he had written numerous plays, especially for children (e.g. Snow White, a fairy tale in 5 pictures, freely based on the Brothers Grimm in verse), and he also published repeatedly his poems presented at events (e.g. Das Holz). After the political change in 1989 he went into professional retirement, but worked as a freelance local reporter for the Chemnitz Free Press until his death in 1996 .
