Günter Rixe

Günter Rixe (born June 15, 1939 in Bielefeld - Brake ) is a German SPD politician and former member of the German Bundestag .

biography

Günter Rixe completed his apprenticeship and master's examination as a plumber. Since 1967 he has been an independent master craftsman for gas and water installations and heating construction. He became a member of IG Metall , the workers' welfare and the association of conscientious objectors .

In 1960 Rixe joined the SPD. He was a member of the Socialist Youth of Germany - The Falcons . From 1973 to 1987 he was a member of the Bielefeld City Council and chairman of the youth welfare committee.

For many years Rixe was chairman of the Association for Vocational Training and Qualification for Young People and Young Adults. V. (BAJ) , Bielefeld, as well as chairman of the non-profit GmbH Bildungsstätte Ottersleben in Magdeburg.

Rixe was a member of the German Bundestag from 1987 to 1998 as a directly elected member of constituency 102 (Bielefeld) .

Günter Rixe was accused in 2002 of having personally enriched himself in connection with construction projects of the non-profit association BAJ. In 2003 he was sentenced to three years in prison by the Bielefeld district court for accepting bribes . The Federal Court of Justice partially overturned this judgment; In 2005 Rixe was sentenced again, this time to two and a half years in prison. Rixe began this prison sentence in June 2006. Rixe was released early from custody in December 2007 on payment of a fine.
