Günter Weil

Günter Weil (born January 20, 1937 in Solingen ) is a former German cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

He started cycling in 1953 in the RC Schwalbe 03 Solingen club . The daily rides with the racing bike from Solingen to work in Wuppertal were part of his training .

At the beginning of July 1966 and 1967, Weil was an amateur German champion in the standing race ahead of Rainer Podlesch , after he was still working on the day before the final in the 1967 race. At the UCI track world championships in 1966 on the cycling track in Frankfurt am Main , he was eliminated in the run-up to the stayers.

In addition to the races on the track, he also drove successfully circuit races and criteria ; he also won the race around Düren (in the C-class). In 1966 he had a serious crash in the run-up to the German championship in two-man team driving and had to fear that his career would continue.
