Günther Engelmayer

Günther Engelmayer (born May 28, 1941 in Vienna ) is a retired Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

Life

After graduating from high school in 1961, Engelmayer entered the federal service and in 1974 became head of the department for environmental protection in what was then the Federal Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Industry. From 1980 he worked as secretary of the Austrian trade union federation and federal secretary of the Christian trade unionists group. On April 24, 1983 Engelmayer was sworn in as a member of the Vienna State Parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council, on December 9, 1987 he moved to the Vienna City Senate as a city councilor without a portfolio and became a member of the Vienna State Government Zilk II . On April 2, 1990 Engelmayer resigned from his position as a city councilor for health reasons.
