Günther Felbinger (born May 17, 1962 in Lohr a.Main ) is a German local and state politician (non-party; free voters until January 2018 ). From 2008 to 2018 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament .

Career

Felbinger finished high school in 1982 with the general higher education entrance qualification. Basic military service (1983–1984) was followed by studies at the German Sport University in Cologne , which he completed in 1989 as a certified sports teacher. In 1990 he wrote as part of a traineeship for the Würzburg-based daily Main-Post , for which he subsequently worked as a freelancer, and then worked from 1990 to 1992 as a project manager for the German Sports Association . From 1992 until he moved into the Bavarian State Parliament, he taught at the Dr. Karl Kroiß School for the hearing impaired in Würzburg. In addition, he took on tasks as a base trainer for the Bavarian Athletics Association .

His political career began in 2005 when he joined the Free Voters. He initially took over the office of press officer for the Main-Spessart district association. After the local elections in spring 2008, he moved into the city council of Gemünden a.Main , where he took over the chairmanship of the parliamentary group. In the state elections in 2008 he ran in the constituency Main-Spessart , but moved into the Bavarian state parliament for the first time via a list in the constituency of Lower Franconia . There he is a member of the Committee on Education, Youth and Sport and the Committee on Public Service Issues . Felbinger is also a member of the parliamentary group of free voters in the factional working group for inclusion of the Bavarian state parliament. For his parliamentary group, Felbinger is the chairman of the education working group and acts as a spokesperson for education and sport policy. Since 2010 he has been the chairman of the Main-Spessart Free Voter District Electoral Group.

On November 3, 2015, Felbinger filed a voluntary report with the Landtag Office and the judiciary. Felbinger admitted that he had billed unlawful contracts for work via the parliamentary flat rate for parliamentarians. 60,000 euros are said to have been billed for reports. In addition, funds from the employee budget have been misused for years with bogus contracts.

On July 11, 2017, Felbinger announced that he was leaving the Free Voters parliamentary group and announced that he would remain as a non-attached member of the Bavarian parliament until the end of the legislative period. In the election on Oct. 14, 2018 , he did not run.

Günther Felbinger has carried out several fundraising campaigns to help people in developing countries (e.g. Laos). He also supports Father Eckhart's circle of friends . He is the patron of the Deutsche Kindertafel e. V.

Church engagement

Günther Felbinger is Catholic. From 2002 to 2006 he was the parish council chairman in Langenprozelten. Today he works there in the church administration.

Association work

MdL Felbinger is active in several associations. He is the project manager of international sports development aid measures, German Olympic Sports Confederation & Foreign Office . In addition, he is still involved in the State Committee on Teaching and is a teaching assistant at the Bavarian Athletics Association (grassroots and competitive sports).

Club and youth work

Günther Felbinger was chairman of the Karlstadt Athletics Association and on the board of the Langenprozelten association for nine years . He organizes various sporting events and trains athletes as a base trainer in Würzburg. He also works as a leader of various leisure activities with young people.
