Günther Hennerici

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Günther Hennerici (born September 10, 1924 in Mayen ; † July 26, 2000 there ) was a German entrepreneur and motorsport team boss.

Life

Hennerici was a co-owner of Eifelland, a company that manufactured caravans , when he began building his own racing team in the late 1960s. The team was initially involved in Formula 2 , but in 1972 Hennerici entered the Formula 1 World Championship as Team Eifelland Caravans with his own March- based racing car .

The project was short-lived, and after selling his stake in the caravan company, he retired from racing as team manager in mid-1975.

As a patron and committed to promoting young talent, however, he remained loyal to motorsport. As early as the 1960s, he had good contacts with Mike Kranefuss and Jochen Neerpasch , who later became heads of motorsport at Ford and BMW. As a driver, he could also be found again and again at events for historic vehicles.

Hennerici, who was married to racing driver Hannelore Werner , died of a heart attack in the summer of 2000.
