Gürcan Gürsel

Gürcan Gürsel (born March 15, 1959 in Turhal , Turkey ) is a Turkish cartoonist. He is the author and draftsman of various successful comic series, in particular Les Foots Furieux ( The Champions or Die Chaos-Kicker ).

Live and act

Gürcan Gürsel attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Istanbul from 1977 to 1981 . For more than 20 years he worked in the Turkish, socially critical satire magazine Gırgır , but also for the magazines Çarşaf, Fırt, Laklak, Avni, Fırfır and Dıgıl. He also worked for the Turkish edition of the American satirical magazine Mad .

In 1988 he emigrated to Belgium and then created several comic series that were very popular in France and Belgium. His drawing style is based on the tradition of the École Marcinelle . Beyond the humorous aspect, his sports comics stand out due to the high level of detail in the movement sequences.
