G. Madhavan Nair
G. Madhavan Nair (born October 31, 1943 in Thiruvananthapuram , Kerala , India ) is an Indian scientist and technologist.
Life
Nair was born into a Nayar family belonging to the Indian middle class. He attended a school in Kanyakumari District . He completed his engineering studies at the College of Engineering , Trivandrum, the University of Kerala in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science degree . After graduating, he took part in a training program at the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) Training School in Mumbai .
From September 2003 to October 2009 he was head of the Indian space agency ISRO . Madhavan Nair is considered a supporter of President Abdul Kalam's plans to turn India into a space nation.
