The Padma Vibhushan ( Hindi पद्म विभूषण ) is the second highest Indian civilian merit after the Bharat Ratna . The order and the accompanying certificate are awarded by the Indian President on January 26th, “ Republic Day ”.
The award was introduced on January 2, 1954. It honors people for exceptionally outstanding achievements for the Indian nation, regardless of the field. From July 13, 1977 to January 26, 1980, the award of the award was suspended.
