Jagadguru Rambhadracharya ( Sanskrit : जगद्गुरुरामभद्राचार्यः Jagadguru Rāmabhadrācārya , pronunciation: [ɟəɡəd̪ɡuru Rɑːməbʱəd̪rɑːcɑːrjə] real name Giridhar Mishra * 14. January 1950 in Jaunpur , Uttar Pradesh , India ) is an Indian scholar, educator, composer, speaker, philosopher and Hindu religious leader based in Chitrakuta , Uttar Pradesh.

Life

Rambhadracharya lost his sight at the age of two months and has been blind ever since. He never used braille or any other aids. He speaks 22 languages ​​and writes and composes in Sanskrit , Hindi , Awadhi , Maithili and several other languages.

Work and religious position

Since 1988 he has been one of the four established Jagadguru Ramanandacharyas and leader of the Ramanandi Order (Ramanandi Sampradaya ), which can be traced back to Saint Ramananda (around 1400 to 1476) and is one of the largest Orthodox Hindu orders of Vishnuism .

He is the founder and head of the Ashram Tulsi Peeth, a religious and social institution in Chitrakuta named after the poet and saint Tulsidas , as well as the founder and lifelong chancellor of the Jagadguru Rambhadracharya Handicapped University (JRHU) (German: Jagadguru-Rambhadacharya University for the Disabled) in Chitrakuta , which offers diploma and postgraduate courses exclusively for disabled students. This university was founded on September 27, 2001 and is the first and only disabled university in the world.

Among the more than 80 works that he wrote are four great epic poems, two in Sanskrit and two in Hindi, as well as a Hindi commentary on the Ramacaritmanas , a Sanskrit prose commentary on the Astadhyayi , the eight books of grammatical rules of the grammarist Panini , and Sanskrit commentaries on the Prasthanatrayi scriptures, the three main Hindu works Brahma Sutra , Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads .

In India, Rambhadracharya is considered the authority for the knowledge and interpretation of the Holy Tulsidas. He is a renowned Katha lecturer for the Ramayana and the Bhagavatapurana . His Katha programs are regularly shown in various cities in India and abroad and are shown on television channels such as Sanskar TV and Sanatan TV.

In 2015 he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan .
