Man Mohan Sharma

Man Mohan Sharma (born May 1, 1937 in Jodhpur , Rajasthan ) is an Indian chemical engineer . He completed his training in Jodhpur, Mumbai and at Cambridge University . At the age of 27 he was appointed professor of chemical engineering in the Department of Chemical Technology at the University of Mumbai . He later became the director of the MUICT .

In 1976 he was elected a member of the Indian National Science Academy . In 1990 he was - as the first Indian engineer ever - elected as a member of the Royal Society , which in 1996 awarded him the Leverhulme Medal “for his work on the dynamics of multiphase chemical reactions in industrial processes”. In 2001 he received the second highest Indian civil order, the Padma Vibhushan .
