The GCZ-110 is a pioneer tank developed by the Chinese armaments company Norinco , which is based on the hull of the Type 79 . It is used to create entrances and exits as well as entrances and exits to water crossing points, to make the bottom of the water navigable as well as to create, remove obstacles and barriers on the battlefield and to clear mines.
Development history
The GCZ-110 is based on the hull of the Chinese Type 79 Main Battle Tank and the tracked chassis of the Type 96 . The tub was modified slightly for the superstructures. The pioneer tank was developed in 1994 and was conceptually based on the Soviet recovery and pioneer vehicles. According to SIPRI , no exports of this vehicle are known.
technology
A hydraulically lowerable dozer blade is mounted on the front of the GCZ-110 , which can reach a maximum depth of 40 cm in a horizontal position. The shield can be bent in a V-shape, for example to push away ground or tactical obstacles to combat. The blade can be raised by approx. 110 ° while driving. In many ways, this leveler is similar to the Soviet IMR series. In the middle of the hull of the GCZ-110, where the gun turret is usually located, a hydraulically driven 16-ton telescopic crane arm is installed, which rests on the vehicle facing backwards in the marching position. When the boom is fully extended to 3.5 m, it can lift a maximum load of 16 tons, while in motion it can lift up to three tons. The maximum lifting height is specified as 8.4 m and is used to lift armored towers and drive units or even to lift lighter vehicles. A recovery thread is also available. The GCZ-110 seems to be equipped with crane hooks as standard, but according to Jane's it is not known whether these can be replaced with other lifting accessories such as grabs .
