German Facility Management Association (GEFMA, German Facility Management Association ) is the trade association of the facility management (FM). With around 1000 members from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and other EU countries, it sees itself as a lobbyist towards politics, the media and the public. GEFMA was founded in Stuttgart in 1989 and is based in Bonn . Almost all major FM service providers and FM users are organized in the GEFMA. The gross value added in the FM industry was EUR 134.28 billion in 2017.

tasks

The GEFMA is involved in standardization work for facility management and provides working aids and technical support for all market participants. The guidelines developed are intended to provide legal security beyond the German market. Quality standards with certification have developed from some guidelines . GEFMA supplies work materials for IT applications in FM (CAFM Computer Aided Facility Management). Our own certification system certifies a minimum standard of the software products. For training and further education in facility management, the association certifies FM courses and educational institutions and defines framework curricula and subject catalogs for university education and operational qualification.

The GEFMA is committed to a certifiable standard ( GEFMA 160 - Sustainability in Facility Management ) for the sustainable operation of real estate and properties. As a cooperation partner of science, the association is involved in studies and projects and awards prizes to young people for outstanding scientific achievements and project work. He supports public relations for facility management and its topics such as digitization, operator responsibility or workplace management.

The GEFMA is a registered association . The organs are the general assembly and the board . Members can be natural and legal persons, namely providers and users of services of facility management or representatives of teaching and research .

The general assembly is a formal decision-making body and elects the honorary board for three years; this commissions the management . The board consists of at least four members, including a chairman and two deputies. Martin Schenk is the chairman of the board and his deputies are Rainer Vollmer and Wolf-Dieter Adlhoch.
