history

Gesiba was founded in August / September 1921 by the Republic of Austria , the City of Vienna and the Association for Settlements and Allotment Gardening , each of which had a one-third share, as a public-sector settlement and building materials agency. The main purpose of the establishment was to provide the cooperatives and settlers' associations with cheap building material and to assist in solving financing issues. When the City of Vienna started a generous residential construction program a few years later, Gesiba supplemented this with the construction of five thousand single-family houses ( Am Laaerberg , Heuberg and Spiegelgrund ). In 1993 the legal form was changed from a limited liability company to a public limited company .
