Isabella Ackerl

Isabella Ackerl (born October 15, 1940 in Vienna ) is an Austrian historian , Germanist and author .

Life

Isabella Ackerl attended the Bundesgymnasium Vienna 13th, Fichtnergasse, where she graduated with the Matura in 1959 . She then studied history and German at the University of Vienna , where she received her doctorate in 1968. From 1968 to 1971 she carried out various activities in the private sector.

In 1971 she moved to the “Scientific Commission of the Theodor Körner Foundation Fund and the Leopold Kunschak Prize for Research into the History of the First Republic”, which was located in the Austrian State Archives . There she held the position of scientific secretary. Since 1975 she had a job in what was then the Federal Ministry for Science and Research , was assigned to the Federal Chancellery and had been employed in the Federal Press Service since 1990 . In 2002 she retired. In Club alpha she deals with the advancement of women and works as curator of the gallery alpha .

As editor and editor she was responsible for three scientific book series (a total of about 30 volumes) and wrote more than 40 scientific articles, mainly on contemporary history. Popular scientific publications, e.g. B. Monographs on Matthias Corvinus , the second Turkish siege of Vienna , a Vienna chronicle, Vienna travel guide and the history of the federal state insurance are part of her oeuvre. She also appeared as the editor of Angela Rohr's memoirs , which were brought to the West before 1989. In the Marix -Wissen series , she published: The most important statesmen , The countries of the world (2 volumes) and Data on Austrian history (2 volumes). She has also contributed to two CD-ROMs.

Awards

In 2000 she received the Leopold Kunschak Prize . The Cross of Honor for Science and Art 1st Class was awarded to her in 2002, which was presented by Elisabeth Gehrer .
