GE Fanuc Automation was a joint venture between GE and the Japanese FANUC , a manufacturer of CNC controls , drive technology for machine tools , machine tools and robots . It existed from 1987 to 2009. The aim of the joint venture GE Fanuc was the joint sales and service of products for everything to do with drive technology, automation technology and control of CNC machines .

The company developed and produced automation platforms such as PLC , visualization systems , Scada , embedded systems, automation and process control systems and production management systems ( MES ). GE Intelligent Platforms was part of the GE Enterprise Solutions division of the American General Electric Company, one of the world's top-selling conglomerates . The company is based in Charlottesville , Virginia , USA.

In October 2007 the company repositioned itself. The areas of GE Fanuc Automation (automation technology and production management) and GE Fanuc Embedded (embedded computing) have been combined to form GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms . The CNC division was renamed Fanuc GE CNC Europe due to its proximity to Fanuc and the changed majority structure .

GE Intelligent Platforms is already one of the largest companies in the automation and embedded computing sector. In the automation market, GE IP offers computer boards, systems, and software packages that are used to control and report on manufacturing equipment and manufacturing tools. In the embedded market, GE produces IP boards and systems for use in defense, telecommunications, aerospace and many other other applications.

GE Intelligent Platforms is active in the areas of CNC controls , PLCs , machine visualizations ( HMI ), control systems ( SCADA ), production management software ( MES ), servo motors , linear motors and associated frequency converters .

resolution

Following a notification dated August 17, 2009, GE and FANUC have agreed to dissolve the joint venture. FANUC takes over the CNC business worldwide under the name FANUC CNC , while GE Software and Embedded Systems will continue to operate under the name GE Intelligent Platforms . The separation took place in December 2009. The new European headquarters is located in Augsburg.
