The GISMA ( G erman  I nternational Graduate  S chool of  M anagement and  A dministration)  Business School is a private educational institution with offices in Hanover and Berlin. It emerged in 1999 from an initiative of companies and the state government of Lower Saxony and is organized and managed privately. Co-founder of the university was u. a. Gerhard Schröder , former German Chancellor.

The university cooperated with the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University in Indiana, USA and Leibniz University Hannover and offered both a German and an American MBA degree. In addition to an 11-month full-time MBA program and a 22-month part-time Executive MBA program, each in cooperation with the Krannert School of Management, the TiasNimbas Business School in the Netherlands and the CEU Business School in Hungary, GISMA also offer a part-time MBA in weekend format.

Bankruptcy and restart

GISMA filed for bankruptcy on May 14, 2013. As the reason for the insolvency, the press named a sharp drop in student numbers combined with high financial burdens from the cooperation with Purdue University . Most recently, 24 people were enrolled in the full-time MBA program, up from over 70 in previous years.

On August 29, 2013 GISMA was sold to Global University Systems BV . GISMA has since been reorganized and now offers more than ten master’s programs and several executive education programs with various partner universities. GISMA's study programs include a. accredited by AMBA.

GISMA in Berlin

On January 26, 2017, GISMA opened its new location in Berlin. The new campus in Berlin has 1,600 square meters. In Berlin, four study programs were initially offered together with the Grenoble Ecole de Management :

  • Grenoble MBA
  • Grenoble MIB
  • Grenoble MSc Innovation, Strategy & Entrepreneurship
  • Grenoble MSc Marketing Management

In April 2017, the offer in Berlin was expanded to include four master’s courses in cooperation with the University of the Law :

  • MSc Corporate Financial Management
  • MSc International Marketing
  • MSc Leadership and Human Resource Management
  • MSc Strategic Business Management

In May 2017, the offer was expanded to include three master’s courses in cooperation with Arden University in Coventry :

  • MSc IT Security Management

At the beginning of May 2017, the partnership with the renowned SDA Bocconi School of Management in the area of ​​executive education was announced.

All programs at GISMA Business School are taught in English.
