The GQL-111 is a military rapid bridge system made in China and conceptually comparable to the nature of bridge-laying tanks . However, only all-terrain military trucks are used in the GQL-111 system.
Development history
The GQL-111 express bridge was developed in the 2000s by the state armaments company Norinco and delivered to the People's Liberation Army . It was designed on the basis of a four-axle truck (8 × 8) from the Chinese manufacturer BeiBen Truck , which offered the ideal compromise between off-road and road driving properties . The cab chassis comes from BeiBen Truck, which produces various Mercedes-Benz components under license. Conceptually, the GQL-111 is similar to the Russian TMM-6 rapid bridge system .
technology
Each truck carries a folded bridge segment that has a length of about 8.0 m in the transport state. A segment can be used to bridge a trench up to 15 m. Furthermore, five high-speed bridges can be connected in such a way that obstacles of 75 m can be overcome, whereby the trench depth can be up to 5.5 m. The GQL-111 system can be used in combination with pontoons to cross wider rivers. According to Norinco , the express bridge can carry military vehicles up to 50 tons and wheeled vehicles with a maximum axle weight of 13 tons. A newer version is also known as the 60T bridge, the capacity of which has been increased to 60 tons.
