The TMM-6 ( Russian ТММ-6, тяжёлый механизированный мост 6 , in German: " heavy mechanized bridge 6 ") is a military rapid bridge system made in Russia and conceptually comparable to the nature of bridge-laying tanks. However, only off-road wheeled vehicles are used with the TMM-6 system.
Development history
In the mid-1990s, the Russian arms company Omsktransmasch began developing a modern rapid bridge laying system on its own initiative, which was to replace the outdated equipment from the time of the Soviet Union in a timely manner. As a result, the MTU-90 on a tracked chassis and the TMM-6 based on the MZKT-7930 "Astrolog", a heavy 8 × 8 truck from the Belarusian manufacturer Minski Sawod Koljosnych Tjagachei, were developed . Since it was ready for series production in 1999, the TMM-6 has only been used in small numbers by the Russian Army, and exports are also unknown to date.
technology
Unlike the older Soviet TMM-3 bridge-laying system , in which four identical vehicles belonged to a complete bridge, a TMM-6 set consists of two bridge-laying vehicles and four transport vehicles with a total of six bridges. The transport vehicle is a semitrailer with a tandem trailer on which the folded and pushed together bridge parts are stored. The tractor is an all-terrain truck of the Ural-4320 type with three axles. The laying vehicle is based on the MZKT-7930, which was designed for transporting and laying the bridge. The hydraulically driven laying mechanism can either be controlled from a control station at the rear of the vehicle or by remote control. The fully deployed bridge has a length of 17 m, the height of the supporting pillars can be adjusted between 1.5 and 5.0 m. When a complete set of six 17-meter individual bridges has been completed, the result is a total bridge length of 102 meters. The completion of the assembly process takes about 50 minutes. The translation construction is approved for caterpillar and wheeled vehicles up to 60 tons. 400 vehicles per hour should be able to cross the express bridge at a speed of up to 30 km / h.
