GRAV

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The abbreviation GRAV stands for weight- reduced aluminum front end. In this variant of an automobile body , which was developed by the automobile manufacturer BMW , the front end is made of aluminum. The passenger cell and the rear end are made of steel . The GRAV was used for the first time in the E 60 (BMW 5 Series) and E 63 (BMW 6 Series) series.

The advantage of this design lies in the balanced weight distribution between the front and rear axles than with a steel front car. Depending on the engine , the exact weight distribution varies due to the different engine weights.
