The . No 1 to 4 were meterspurige steam locomotives the Gölniczvölgyi Vasuti társaság ( Göllnitztalbahn ; GVT), a private branch line in the then upper Hungary .

history

The locomotives were delivered in 1884 by Hagans in Erfurt with the serial numbers 172 to 175 to the Göllnitztalbahn, which they designated with the track numbers 1 to 4. In contrast to the standard gauge locomotives, the Kaschau-Oderberger Bahn (KsOd) did not classify them in their numbering scheme.

After the nationalization of the KsOd in 1921 and the subsequent takeover of the local railway by the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD), the locomotives received the new ČSD numbers U 36.001 to 004 after 1925.

In 1935, part of the main line was given up in favor of a new standard-gauge route, so that from then on all four locomotives were no longer required for train service. U 36.001 was delivered to Banská Štiavnica in 1938 , where it was retired in 1950. Then the locomotive came to the Hungarian state railway MAV and was designated there as 392.5001 . The locomotive was used in Diósgyőr . In 1975 the locomotive was scrapped. The U 36.004, on the other hand, came to the Košice children's railway in the 1950s . It was used there until 1961 when it was scrapped. The U 36.002 and 003 handled all the traffic on their main route until they were shut down in 1965.

The U 36.003 has been preserved as a museum, after its retirement it was erected as a memorial in the Spišská Nová Ves locomotive depot . In 1990 it was restored to working order. Today she is known as "Katka" at the children's railway in Košice.
