Gabor Hegyi

Gábor Hegyi (* 1980 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian baroque trumpeter . He lives in Cologne .

Life

Hegyi began his musical education in the Budapest State Music School in the 10th district. At the age of 14 he won the entrance exam at the Béla Bartók Music High School, where he graduated from high school at 18. He came to Germany at the age of 19 and studied at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen the subject "Diplom-Musiklehrer", which he graduated with distinction. Then he began the postgraduate course in "artistic training" with the main subject trumpet, which he also completed with the grade "very good". Thanks to his professor Horst-Dieter Bolz , he started playing the baroque trumpet very early. After a series of classes with Gabriele Cassone in Lausanne, he decided to devote his musical skills entirely to historical performance practice and took a master's degree in "Early Music" with Professor Susan Williams at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, majoring in baroque trumpet . Thanks to the collaboration with her, he managed to establish himself in the early music scene and he played in various ensembles such as B. The Bach Ensemble (led by Joshua Rifkin ), Concerto con Anima , Concert Royal Cologne , Elbipolis Barockorchester Hamburg , La Stagione Frankfurt , Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin , or Concerto Cologne . He also worked with the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz , the Opéra de Lausanne and the Stuttgart State Opera .

As a chamber musician and soloist, he has performed in Argentina, Algeria, Germany, France, Holland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Switzerland, Tunisia and Hungary. He also made several radio, CD and TV recordings in Europe, North Africa and South America.

Gabor's world premiere recording of Johann Wilhelm Hertel's Concerto for trumpet, 2 oboes and 2 bassoons on the CD Johann Wilhelm Hertel: Chamber Music for Wind Instruments with the Ensemble Concert Royal Cologne was awarded an ECHO Klassik in 2015 in the category “Chamber Music Recording of the Year”.
