Gabriel Loidolt

Gabriel Loidolt (born October 4, 1953 in Eibiswald ) is an Austrian writer .

Life

Gabriel Loidolt studied electrical engineering and philology in Munich and at the University of Graz , where he received his doctorate in 1986. After several years as a university lecturer abroad, he worked for various cultural associations in Graz . a. the film magazine BLIMP. Then a while as a freelance copywriter at KIWI (Graz) and proofreader, for several years freelance writer. Readings in: Austria, Germany, Croatia, France and Canada.

Loidolt's main themes, which run like a red thread through his books, are probably the loneliness of modern man and the clash of different cultures, long before the “clash of civilizations” became a catchphrase, with the author narrating atmospherically dense and his technique one achieved remarkable bandwidth. Loidolt largely stays in the background and avoids the literary public.

In 2010 Loidolt was awarded the Styrian Literature Prize.

Works

Gabriel Loidolt's novel HURENSOHN (Fest, Berlin 1998) also served as a template for Michael Sturminger 's film of the same name .
