Gabriel Mata

Gabriel Mata (* around or before 1949 in Atotonilco El Alto , Jalisco ; † April 24, 2013 in León ), also known by the nickname El Profe , was a Mexican football player in the position of a striker .

career

As a professional footballer , Mata was under contract with Club León , with whom he won the Mexican Cup competition in the 1966/67 season . He was also the Esmeraldas' first goalscorer after the Estadio Nou Camp opened .

Mata studied at the Universidad de Guanajuato and after his active career, which ended in 1970/71, worked for many years in the coaching staff of their football team.

Mata died of sudden cardiac arrest at the age of 63 when he got into his car immediately after a training session.
