Gabriel Siegel

Gabriel Siegel (* around 1550 in Eibenstock ; † after 1624) was a German tin trader , Erzgebirge hammer gentleman, tithe town judge and mountain master.

Life

Gabiel Siegel was the son of the tithe Melchior Siegel from Eibenstock. He came from a dynasty of Hammerherrn from the Saxon Ore Mountains , which also invested in the Kingdom of Bohemia . So it is not surprising that he acquired the hammer works in Breitenbach , located in Bohemia, on the state border with Saxony. At that time, the partners were Melchior Siegel and Melchior Kleinhempel. He had acquired significant property in neighboring Platten . In the years 1590 to 1591, 1605, 1611, 1613 and 1616 to 1619 he held the office of city judge there. After the death of the miner Hans Meyss in 1592, he was appointed his successor on November 4, 1593. On August 31, 1579 his first wife Rebecca Siegel donated an altar cloth to the church of Platten , in 1595 his second wife Catharina Siegel donated a hand source to the baptismal font and on Christmas 1619 his third wife Catharina Siegel donated a figure of Jesus. He is still mentioned in the registers in 1624. His son-in-law was the city judge and mining authority of St. Joachimsthal Conrad Hütter, who left for Schneeberg with his family in 1629, and Johann Jahn was the last Protestant pastor of Platten .
