Gabriel da Silva (born November 17, 1988 in Zurich ) is a Swiss actor and filmmaker .

Life

Da Silva was born on November 17, 1988 in Zurich. Since his father is Brazilian and his mother is Swiss, he grew up bilingual with Swiss German and Portuguese . He lived in Zurich until he was 8 years old, after which his parents moved to Curitiba in Brazil , where he attended the Swiss school in Curitiba for 5 years. In 2001 he returned to Switzerland.

From 2009 to 2012 he attended the drama school in Zurich and then the Center for Development in Drama (ZES). In the meantime, between 2009 and 2013, he took several courses in “Method Acting” and “Camera Acting”, some of them also at the ZES.

In 2013 da Silva played the young Paul Odermatt in the flashback scene in the SRF crime series The Undertaker with Mike Müller .

The actor had leading and supporting roles in various short films and was seen in movies and TV commercials. He also appeared on smaller theater stages, for example in the play Die Totmacher in 2011 or in Ragu at the drama school in 2012 . As early as 2003 he could be seen at the "English Theater Zurich" as hotel manager in The last Dinner .

In August 2013 da Silva played the role of Don Vito Corleone from the literary adaptation The Godfather at the “One Hollywood Classic” competition within the “One Minute Film Festival” in Aarau . He came second out of eight applicants. In 2015 he took part again and this time won the audience award.

In 2016, da Silva's first feature film script, The Silent Scream, was filmed. He played the main role and directed it. It is about the subject of bullying in schools, as well as a school rampage . The Thurgau writer and actor Hans Gysi plays a teacher in the film.

Da Silva has both Swiss and Brazilian citizenship. He lives in Zurich.
